Despite being only three hours away from one another (or 250 kilometres), Agadir and Marrakech are worlds apart in their feel and energy. While the “Red City” is abuzz with activity in its lively souks and squares, Agadir feels much more laidback with its coastal culture of sun, surf and sand. It's because of these differences that both are worth visiting, particularly if you want to shop til you drop in the souks of Marrakech AND bliss out on Morocco’s Atlantic beaches.

First things first: Is there a bus from Agadir to Marrakech? The answer is “Yes!” and in my opinion, taking the bus from Agadir to Marrakech is the most convenient and budget-friendly option for getting between the two cities. Buses run frequently throughout the day and the ride is quite comfortable, with reclining seats, air conditioning and ample legroom. As a solo female traveller, I have taken the bus from Agadir to Marrakech several times and have never had any issues.
If you're departing from Agadir, your journey starts at the Gare Routière on Avenue Abderrahim Bouabid. This station is situated in the Cite Dakhla area, about a 10-minute drive from the beach. How to purchase bus tickets for Agadir to Marrakech
When booking your bus tickets for Agadir to Marrakech, it's a good idea to do it online a few days ahead of your travel dates. This is especially important if your journey falls during a major holiday like Eid al Adha (6-10 June 2025) or Eid al Fitr at the end of Ramadan (30-31 March 2025) when many Moroccans travel to see family and friends. If you're travelling during these busy times, I suggest securing your bus tickets a couple of weeks in advance to guarantee a seat for your preferred date and time.
There are a few bus companies travelling between Agadir and Marrakech, with CTM and Supratours being the most popular with tourists. I've taken Supratours buses around Morocco, but I find their online booking a bit more difficult to navigate, so I usually purchase their tickets in person at the bus station. On the other hand, I find the CTM website much more user-friendly, so I'll explain their online booking process below.
At the time of writing, CTM has around 10 daily buses from Agadir to Marrakech, with prices starting from 115 dirhams. It’s important to note that fare prices fluctuate depending on demand, so check the CTM website for your preferred dates.

What to expect on the Agadir to Marrakech bus
To ensure a smooth and stress-free journey from Agadir to Marrakech, I suggest arriving at least 15 minutes before your bus is set to leave. This extra time will allow you to handle any luggage you have, which means checking it in at the luggage counter, just like you would at an airport. Once you pay a small fee (ranging from 5 to 10 dirhams), you'll get a tag or sticker and a staff member will help you load your bags onto the bus.
When it's time to board the bus, you'll find your seat number clearly marked above each seat - be sure to sit in your assigned seat to avoid any chaos as others board. Once you're comfortably seated, all that's left to do is relax and enjoy the beautiful views that will unfold outside your window.
Just a heads up: the bus from Agadir to Marrakech doesn't have restrooms, so it's a good idea to use the facilities before you get on. If you need to use public toilets in Morocco, remember to keep some spare change handy to tip the attendant.

No, there are currently no trains from Marrakech to Agadir. However, there are plans to extend Morocco’s high-speed railway line all the way to Agadir in the future. Eventually, you will be able to travel from Agadir to Marrakech by train, but when that will be, I don’t know.

How to get from Agadir to Marrakech by private transfer
If you’re travelling in a group or just want the fastest way of getting from Agadir to Marrakech, then a private transfer is your answer. You can easily arrange private transfer pickups in advance and they will come directly to your Agadir hotel, sparing you the trouble (and expense) of getting to the bus station ahead of time. When you reach Marrakech, they will take you straight to your riad or hotel (or as close as possible to the pedestrian-only medina), which saves you a lot of time and effort.
For those with lots of luggage or families with small kids, a private transfer means you won’t have to drag your bags through busy bus stations or deal with public transport while managing little ones. Plus, you can choose your departure time, giving you the flexibility to travel early in the morning or late at night if that suits you better.
Private transfers from Agadir to Marrakech cost anywhere from around 150 USD for up to four people, so they aren’t exorbitantly expensive.
This private transfer from Agadir to Marrakech comes with excellent reviews:

How to get from Agadir to Marrakech by grand taxi
For those looking to travel from Agadir to Marrakech on a budget while still enjoying some of the perks of a private transfer, opting for a grand taxi can be a great compromise. A grand taxi is a shared vehicle that can fit up to six passengers, so while you won’t have the entire taxi to yourself, you’ll benefit from a much lower fare compared to a private transfer.
If you prefer, you can book the entire taxi for yourself, which may end up being cheaper than a private transfer (you'll probably have to haggle for the price). That being said, you’ll need to go to the grand taxi station on Rue de Fes, as they don’t come to pick you up!
When booking a seat in a grand taxi from Agadir to Marrakech, prices typically start around 100 dirhams, which is similar to bus fares. Official prices are usually posted at the station but don’t hesitate to ask if you can’t find them. Be aware that drivers might charge extra if you have a lot of luggage that takes up more space - you pay extra for luggage on the bus too!
Travelling by grand taxi from Agadir to Marrakech is generally quicker than by bus, with frequent departures throughout the day. However, the downside is that it can get quite cramped, with four passengers in the back and two in the front, plus the driver. Grand taxis only depart once all seats are filled, so if it’s a slow day, you might find yourself waiting for a while.
Female travellers might feel a bit uneasy in a grand taxi, especially if it’s just men in the vehicle. If so, you can ask to sit next to another woman for added comfort. Personally, I prefer to use grand taxis for shorter trips or when buses aren’t an option. For longer journeys, like the one from Agadir to Marrakech, I enjoy the extra space that bus travel offers.
