Writer's picture: MalikaMalika

Is April a good time to visit Agadir? While Agadir is becoming an increasingly popular Moroccan destination, April is the perfect time to visit if you want to avoid the peak summer crowds and escape the worst of the heat. If you’re like me and prefer your temperatures in the 20s (Celsius), rather than the 30s (or 40s!!), I think April in Agadir is ideal. It means warm days, abundant sunshine and the positivity that spring brings.

Compared to the peak summer season, visiting Agadir in April offers a more tranquil atmosphere, as well as the chance to score better deals on accommodation and flights. That being said, there can be an influx of visitors around the Easter break when many Europeans come to take advantage of time off work and school.

In this article, discover everything you need to know about visiting Agadir in April, from the weather to crowds and special events. I’ll also share with you some of the best things to do in Agadir in April to help you plan a seasonally suitable itinerary.

Agadir weather in April

In April, Agadir basks in the warmth of the Moroccan spring, with warm temperatures, abundant sunshine and minimal rainfall. During the daytime, the mercury typically hovers from the low to mid-20s Celsius (mid to upper 70s Fahrenheit), providing comfortable conditions for outdoor activities and sightseeing. Evenings bring a slight drop in temperature, with lows around 15°C (59°F), so bring something warm for evening strolls along the beachfront promenade and dining alfresco.

The water temperature in April hovers around 19°C (66°F), which may feel brisk but is also really refreshing for ocean dips. If you prefer things a little warmer, plan your visit for the end of the month when the Atlantic may be more appealing for swimming.

Is April a busy time in Agadir?

April is a popular time to visit Agadir, though not the busiest when compared to the summer months. While there’s an uptick in European visitors over the Easter holiday break, April doesn't see the same surge of tourists as in June, July and August. This means you can often find good deals on accommodation and flights, and the beaches will be less packed than in high season.

It’s a great opportunity to explore the surrounding coastline and historic sites without the crowds and before the intense summer heat arrives. That being said, it's still advisable to book hotels and resorts in advance, particularly if you’re planning to visit over the Easter break. Overall, April offers a great combination of good weather, fewer crowds and more competitive prices compared to the peak tourist season in Agadir.

Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles du Maroc

While it’s not taking place in Agadir itself, this female-only car rally will be held across southern Morocco from 11 to 26 April 2025. Competitors must navigate a series of off-road routes (primarily across the Sahara Desert) using only traditional navigation techniques (no electronic devices allowed!). In 2025, the rally will conclude in Essaouira (around three hours’ drive north of Agadir), culminating with an official arrival on the beach, an awards ceremony and a closing party on April 26. Best things to do in Agadir in April

By April, it’s getting warm enough to laze on the beach, take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean and enjoy a classic seaside vacation in Agadir. The long, wide stretch of sand at Plage d’Agadir is perfect for relaxing strolls, sunbathing and people-watching, as well as being a great place to learn to surf. Serious surfers should head up the coast to Taghazout, where you’ll find world-class breaks for all levels.

For a taste of local culture and history, head to the hilltop ruins of the old Kasbah, which offer panoramic views over the city and coast. You can reach the 16th-century fortress via a winding road or by riding the Agadir cable car. Other cultural highlights include the Amazigh Heritage Museum, which showcases the rich traditions of North Africa’s indigenous peoples, and the Memoire d'Agadir, a moving museum dedicated to the devastating 1960 earthquake that destroyed much of the city. For a glimpse of traditional Moroccan life, be sure to explore the narrow lanes and colourful stalls of Souk El Had, which is also a great place to grab lunch!

With the spring rains igniting the landscapes surrounding the city, April in Agadir is ideal for nature lovers. Paradise Valley, located just outside the city, offers picturesque hiking trails that wind past palm groves, olive orchards and crystal-clear pools perfect for a refreshing dip. Twitchers should make a beeline to the nearby Souss-Massa National Park to spot migratory species among the wild coastal wetlands and dunes. Birdwatching is at its best here between March and May, so April is prime season for sightings! For golfers, the weather is still mild enough to enjoy Agadir’s world-class fairways and greens, some of which boast stunning Atlantic Ocean views. You’ll find some of Agadir’s best golf hotels here.

Is April a good time to visit Agadir?

April can be an ideal time to visit Agadir for those seeking idyllic spring weather and relatively thin tourist crowds. While you won't have the penetrating heat that many people love for a beach vacation, April temperatures in Agadir are comfortably warm and perfect for lounging poolside or strolling along the seaside promenade. The skies are typically clear and sunny, with an average of 8 hours of sunshine per day, and rainfall is minimal in April.

Since April is considered part of the shoulder season in Agadir, you can often find good deals on accommodation and flights compared to the busier and pricier summer months. However, there can be an uptick in demand around the Easter break when many Europeans fly over for a stint in the sunshine.

If you need a break from the beach or it's not quite warm enough to be on the sand, April is a wonderful time to explore Agadir's other attractions, such as its cultural museums and earthquake memorials. You can haggle for handicrafts in Souk El Had, spot migratory birds among the estuaries of Souss-Massa or tee off on Agadir’s sun-drenched golf courses.
