5 of the Best Hotel Pools in Marrakech

Updated: Dec 12

Framed by the Atlas Mountains, Marrakech is deservedly one of Morocco’s top tourist destinations but it can also become a sweltering cauldron during the summer months (as I discovered when I touched down once in the middle of August!) The towering peaks that surround the “Red City” act as a natural barrier, trapping the intense heat within the city's winding streets and bustling souks. With temperatures soaring well above 45 degrees Celsius (or over 113 Fahrenheit) on the hottest summer days, finding a hotel or riad with a swimming pool is usually a top priority for me.

Luckily, Marrakech is home to a wealth of stunning pools that offer the perfect antidote to the oppressive heat, as well as being destinations in themselves. From rooftops with infinity-edge pools to hidden garden oases tucked away from the crowded medina, these aquatic sanctuaries provide a cool and serene escape where you can retreat during the heat of the day.

In this article, I’ll share with you 5 of the best hotel pools in Marrakech, all of which are Insta-worthy gems.

In Arabic-Andalusian tradition, the gardens are meticulously designed spaces that embody a deep spirituality and sense of tranquility. The Royal Mansour Marrakech's Le Jardin exemplifies these quintessential qualities, unfolding as a breathtaking haven in the heart of the “Red City”. At its centrepiece lies a sprawling pool that seamlessly blends with the surrounding landscape, creating an idyllic setting to while away sultry Moroccan days in pure, unadulterated bliss. Designed by renowned landscape architect Luis Vallejo, Le Jardin is a harmonious extension of Marrakech's historic gardens. The hypnotic sound of flowing water from the canals and fountains provides a meditative backdrop for lazy days on one of the pool’s thoughtfully appointed sun loungers.

Best rooftop pool in Marrakech

While it’s by no means the biggest swimming pool in Marrakech, the rooftop retreat at this boutique riad is definitely one of the city’s best and an ideal spot to listen to the call to prayer ring out at sunset. This exquisite hotel, tucked away in one of the medina's prime locations, is a masterful marriage of old and new, where every detail speaks to the region's rich cultural heritage. Occupying a former 1920s palace once linked to Pasha El Glaoui, it now stands as a testament to history and sophistication under the creative vision of its Italian owner. Ornate tilework adorns the walls and floors, while delicate arabesque patterns grace the ceilings, evoking a timeless beauty that transports guests to another era. Secluded courtyards filled with lush greenery and trickling fountains provide a peaceful escape, the sound of running water creating a sensory experience that soothes the soul.
