10 Best Hotels in Essaouira with a Pool for a Summer Escape
Looking for the best hotels in Essaouira with a pool? Discover 10 amazing places to stay in this coastal city, complete with a pool where you can refresh in the hot, summer months.
With its enviable coastal setting and golden sweep of sand, Essaouira is a deservedly popular Moroccan destination in the summer months.
The sea breezes blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean keep things a little cooler than in Marrakech, bringing with them the intoxicating aroma of fresh sardines being grilled. To me, this is the smell of summer holidays in Morocco!
Finding a hotel in Essaouira with a pool is always a high priority for me if I’m visiting in the summer months. This ensures I have somewhere to cool off and relax in between sightseeing expeditions.
While the beach is never far away, Essaouira hasn’t been nicknamed the “Windy City” for nothing. On some days, it can be more pleasurable to be poolside on a sun lounger than being whipped by sand at the beach.
That being said, there aren’t a huge number of hotels in the Essaouira medina with a pool. So you may want to consider expanding your search to outside the city itself.
Many of the villas and riads that dot the surrounding countryside offer not only sparkling swimming pools but also spacious gardens where you can relax.
In this article, I’ll highlight 10 of the best hotels in Essaouira with a pool, including options in the city centre, beside the beach and in the surrounding countryside.

Tips for finding an Essaouira hotel with a pool
When selecting a hotel in Essaouira with a pool, there are several factors to consider to ensure you find the ideal property for your needs.
First, determine your budget and the type of property you prefer, whether that’s a luxury riad, an exclusive villa or an adults-only retreat.
If you’re travelling with kids, check that children are permitted to stay. Or better yet, focus your search on family-friendly Essaouira hotels.
Next, consider the location that would be most convenient – either in the heart of the medina, along the beachfront promenade or in the peaceful countryside surrounding Essaouira.
Due to space restrictions, there aren’t a lot of hotels in the Essaouira medina with a pool – Heure Bleue Palais is one of the exceptions.
Aside from the all-important pool, check for additional features, such as a full-service spa, onsite restaurants or activities for children. Many Essaouira hotels with pools also have hammams if you want to try this traditional Moroccan bathing ritual.
Be sure to read reviews from past guests to get a sense of the service, cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, as well as the overall experience of staying at the property.
Also, check details of the pool itself – whether it is heated, outdoors or indoors and if it is accessible to guests year-round.
Lastly, remember that all Essaouira hotels (with pools or not) are subjected to a tourist tax, which is payable at the property in addition to the nightly rate. This is charged per night, per person (over the age of 12) and is a nominal charge of a few Euros.
