6 Best Luxury Hotels in Chefchaouen for a Blue-Hued Escape
Looking for the best luxury hotels in Chefchaouen? Discover 6 amazing places to stay in Morocco’s “Blue Pearl” that offer a high-end experience.
With its Instagrammable streets and blue-hued charm, Chefchaouen is rapidly becoming one of Morocco’s most popular tourist destinations. It’s far more relaxed than the medinas of Fes and Marrakech. Plus the surrounding scenery is absolutely sublime!
Having visited this Rif Mountains city multiple times, I really do think it should be at the top of your “must-visit” list if you’re heading to Morocco. You can breathe in the fresh mountain air, feast on fruit cups beside cascades and photograph to your heart’s content in the blue-coloured streets.
While Chefchaouen can easily be visited on a day trip from Tangier, Fes or Casablanca, I would highly recommend spending a night (or few) to really soak up its charms. Once the day-trippers have left for the day, the medina is that much more enchanting. Oh, and there are some fantastic places to stay!
In truth, Chefchaouen doesn’t have the ultra-luxurious hotels you’ll find in places like Marrakech. But there are some wonderful riads and dars that offer high-end stays. While some have five-star facilities like onsite spas and hammams, others deliver elevated experiences through their exemplary service.
Many of the best luxury hotels in Chefchaouen occupy traditional buildings that have been lovingly restored, complete with gorgeous architectural features. Booking one of these inspiring properties offers a completely different experience from staying at a big-name five-star hotel.
In this article, I’ll share with you 6 of the best luxury hotels in Chefchaouen for a high-end stay in the “Blue Pearl”. Aside from boutique riads and luxury dars, I’ve included highly-rated family-friendly apartments.

The interior colour theme continues that seen in Chefchaouen’s streets, with various shades of blue and pops of red throughout. Outside, Dar Qaysar’s rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of the Rif Mountains and is the perfect spot to sip on mint tea as the sun sets.

Tips for finding a luxury hotel in Chefchaouen
When searching for a luxury hotel in Chefchaouen, there are several things to consider to ensure you find the perfect accommodation for you.
First, consider the location – look for hotels situated in the heart of the medina or within walking distance. Many of the best luxury hotels in Chefchaouen come with incredible views overlooking the Rif mountains and the city’s signature blue-washed buildings.
Read reviews carefully to get a sense of the hotel’s atmosphere and level of service to ensure it meets your standards for a luxury experience. Previous guests are one of the best sources of information that you won’t find on a property’s official website!
Amenities are another important aspect – the best high-end hotels in Chefchaouen may offer courtyard pools, fine-dining restaurants or spa facilities. Trust me, there’s nothing like coming back from a day amidst the fresh air of the Rif Mountains and indulging in a jacuzzi or hammam!
It’s important to remember that every hotel in Chefchaouen adds a government-required tourist tax to the nightly room rate. This nominal fee is applied per person, per night, and is typically collected at the end of your stay. While most hotels clearly include this tax in their listed rates, it often catches many travelers off guard.
