It’s a town we’ve visited numerous times. Sometimes chasing waves when the crowds of Taghazout become too much and sometimes just for a relaxed beachside weekend away.
If the bustling beach resort vibes of Agadir aren’t quite your scene, then the relaxed ambiance of Morocco’s southern beaches and this surfer haven might be the answer.
It’s easy to reach Mirleft as a day trip from Agadir (it’s two hours by car). But I would highly recommend spending a night or few.
The coastline here is undeniably beautiful and there’s a laid-back charm about Mirleft. The term “hidden gem” is often thrown about when describing it.
Plus, there are some wonderful places to stay in Mirleft, whether you’re after an affordable guesthouse in the heart of the town or a luxury coastal retreat nearby.
Watched over by a crumbling old fort, Mirleft tumbles down a hillside in the southern province of Sidi Ifni. Here, it meets the coastline-sculpting waves of the Atlantic Ocean.

Perched atop a cliff near the village of Tabelkoukt (just south of Mirleft), this luxury hotel is connected via a short trail to a wild beach. It features seven gorgeous suites to choose from. Each has been carefully crafted with a distinct theme that draws inspiration from classic Moroccan design.
Additionally, there are several stone-built cottages that blend seamlessly with the coastal terrain.
With spectacular views from its relaxation areas and a beautiful swimming pool, Kasbah Tabelkoukt is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Mirleft. The inviting fireplaces scattered throughout the property and the traditional hammam make it ideal for a winter stay.
It’s also worth mentioning that the meals served here are really good.

Auberge Dar Najmat is located just south of Mirleft’s town centre on the edge of Plage Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah. This once marked the border between the French and Spanish-controlled areas of the country.
Just beyond the lobby of this luxury Mirleft hotel, you’ll find a wonderful garden and terrace, complete with an infinity pool overlooking the water. This is the ideal spot to relax after a day of adventure or enjoy a swim when the Atlantic Ocean is too rough below.
Each of the rooms and suites at Auberge Dar Najmat reflects a sophisticated Moroccan aesthetic. There are options for solo travellers, couples and families.
Additionally, there’s an apartment with a kitchenette for those seeking a self-catering stay in Mirleft. Aside from daily breakfasts, the on-site restaurant offers regional specialties and classic European fare.

There are wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean from Les Etoiles du Ksar’s terrace, as well as a swimming pool where kids can splash around. Plus, the owner is super helpful in ensuring you have everything you need. This really is one of the best hotels in Mirleft.
While it’s easy to walk into Mirleft if you want to dine out, there’s also a beachfront eatery, Tihiya Cafe Restaurant, just a stone’s throw away. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners are available on request if you prefer not to venture out for meals.

Comprising three spacious apartments, this contemporary villa lies a short walk from Plage Tibougraychin on the edge of Mirleft. All of the apartments have two bedrooms, lounge areas and private kitchens that are well-equipped for meal preparation (not just simple snacks).
If you don’t feel like self-catering, meals are available on request.
Staying at this luxury Mirleft villa includes access to a shared swimming pool. There’s also an alfresco terrace where you can socialise with other guests. Additionally, you’ll find a hot tub and a hammam that can be booked ahead of time for private use.
Massages are also available on request for female guests (I presume there is no male masseuse currently available).
In my opinion, Villa Sable is one of the best places for families to stay in Mirleft. The neighbourhood is really peaceful and safe.
The apartments’ spacious living areas mean there is plenty of room for young guests to play and relax, in between beach excursions and swims in the pool.

With stunning views across the Atlantic Ocean and its dunes, these highly-rated Mirleft villas offer direct access to Tamelalt Beach. They’re located around 20 minutes’ north of the town, so you really need a car to get here. But I think the surrounding beaches are some of the best in southern Morocco.
All of the two-bedroom villas at DreamCatcher Homes are well-appointed, with spacious living areas and kitchens offering everything you need. I also just love their design – it’s earthy and natural while still being distinctly Moroccan.
Dominating the property is its sun-drenched pool area, with plenty of loungers where you can enjoy some holiday reading. There’s also a family-friendly restaurant serving Moroccan specialties and an onsite bar, plus a tennis court and a gym.
This really is the perfect place for a beach vacation near Mirleft, with so many recreational activities available.
