As Morocco’s main administrative and political hub, Rabat is a popular business destination. But in my opinion, it’s also a really wonderful city for tourists to explore, with some fantastic cultural attractions. There’s a historic kasbah, an enchanting medina and Andalusian-style gardens, as well as a meandering river that separates Rabat from its sister city, Salé.
Every time I visit Rabat, I find something new to love about this relaxed capital city. There are wonderful museums, beautiful colonial architecture and some incredible street art, plus the locals are just so friendly. So if you’re heading to Morocco, I recommend adding the Moroccan capital to your itinerary!
When it comes to accommodation, Rabat boasts everything from lavish 5-star palaces to charismatic riads and modern mid-range hotels. Many boast swimming pools (some even have two!), which I always love when visiting during the warmer months.
There’s nothing quite like spending the morning sightseeing and being immersed in the buzz of the city. Then being able to retreat to a poolside lounger with a good book in the late afternoon.

Tips for selecting a hotel in Rabat with a pool
When searching for the best hotels in Rabat with a pool, different properties will appeal to different types of travellers. Some are conveniently located within walking distance of the historic medina (or even within the medina itself), while others are situated along the nearby coastline or in the picturesque countryside.
If you’re using a hotel aggregator like booking.com, you can filter your search to only show Rabat hotels with a pool. Once you’ve narrowed down your options, consider additional amenities, such as wellness centres and spas, onsite restaurants and state-of-the-art gyms. Decide which ones are important to you and focus on Rabat hotels that offer them.
I highly recommend reading reviews from previous guests to gain insights into the quality of the accommodations, dining options and other amenities, ensuring they meet your expectations. By delving into the reviews, you’ll uncover a wealth of information that may not be available on the hotel’s website or in its listing description.
Also keep in mind that Rabat is a popular destination for business travellers, so seasonal variations in hotel demand may not correspond to traditional holiday periods. It’s wise to reserve your hotel in Rabat well ahead of time, even if you’re planning to travel during the so-called “off-season”, as conferences and conventions can unexpectedly boost demand.
Additionally, remember that every hotel in Rabat imposes a government-mandated tourist tax that must be paid at the property. This fee is separate from the nightly room rate and is usually settled during check-in or check-out. This small additional charge applies to each guest per night, with the exception of children under 12 years old.
