Is June a good time to visit Agadir? If you like your beach vacations hot but without heaving crowds, then June can be a great time to visit Agadir.

Yes, it’s peak tourist season. But the heaviest crowds don’t arrive until July and August. This is when Europeans, North Americans and Moroccans are all on their long summer vacation. 

While the interior parts of Morocco can get extremely hot in summer (Marrakech is scorching), Agadir’s coastal setting means it enjoys cooling sea breezes that keep temperatures moderate. So if you have your heart set on a Moroccan escape in June but you don’t want to deal with the extreme heat, then Agadir is ideal.

Agadir weather in June

In June, Agadir experiences relatively hot weather, with average daytime temperatures around 28°C (82°F). The abundance of sunshine (there’s a 91% chance of clear skies on any given day) makes it perfect for lazying on the beach or by the resort pool.

In the evenings, temperatures dip to around 18°C (64°F) – dining alfresco is really pleasant. Rainfall is almost non-existent in Agadir in June, so you can leave the umbrella at home!

While the average sea temperature of 21°C (70°F) may be a bit brisk for some, the refreshing waters still offer a welcome respite from the heat of the day. It’s important to be aware that the UV index in Agadir in June can be high. So remember to apply lots of sunscreen throughout the day. 

Between May and August, it’s not uncommon for Agadir to experience a morning haze. This is a result of warm air from the Sahara Desert meeting the cooler air from the Atlantic Ocean. Usually, this clears up as the heat of the day sets in and the sun will eventually reveal itself. 

Is June a busy time in Agadir?

June is a moderately busy time in Agadir as the summer tourism season starts to pick up. The ideal weather conditions attract many visitors, especially from cooler European countries where the heat hasn’t yet arrived. 

While hotel occupancy rates and prices start to rise (compared to the slower spring months), June is not yet peak peak season. That comes in July and August when tourism reaches its height and Agadir gets really crowded.

If you’re visiting Agadir in June, you can expect to see an increasing flow of visitors and more activity at the beaches, restaurants and attractions. But not the huge crowds and peak prices of mid-summer.

What’s on in Agadir in June

Gnaoua World Music Festival

Each June, Essaouira comes alive with the Gnaoua World Music Festival. This three-day celebration pays tribute to the Gnaoua people, an Indigenous community from the Maghreb. Gnaoua music features call-and-response singing, lively percussion and the soulful sounds of the guembri lute. It really is something special!

Beyond Gnaoua music, the festival also highlights a diverse lineup of artists from various contemporary genres, creating an explosive fusion of sounds.

In 2026, the festival is scheduled for June 25 to 27. As Essaouira is only three hours’ drive from Agadir, it’s possible to incorporate this incredible music event into your itinerary. 

Best things to do in Agadir in June

In my opinion, June is one of the best times to visit Agadir for a beach vacation. The temperatures are warm enough for long days lazing on the sand, interspersed with refreshing swims in the Atlantic Ocean.

If you’re visiting Agadir in June, you can still find plenty of space to spread out at the beach. This gets more difficult in July and August. Plus, you probably won’t have any issues finding an umbrella and sun loungers to rent.

There are lots of water sports on offer to keep everyone entertained and the mellow summer swells create ideal conditions for learning to surf.

If you’re serious about surfing, I’d suggest heading north along the coast to Taghazout. It’s surrounded by some of the best surf breaks in Morocco.

While the winter months herald in the biggest swells, June is a great time for beginners and intermediates to hone their skills.

There are plenty of surf camps and hostels offering an immersive experience. Some include yoga classes as part of their daily schedule. 

Away from the sand, you can ride the cable car to the hilltop ruins of Kasbah Agadir Oufella or delve into the local history at the Musée de la Reconstruction d’Agadir.

If you encounter a cooler day, consider venturing inland to explore the hiking trails of Paradise Valley. The natural swimming holes in this gorge are blissful after a walk!

Agadir also makes a wonderful base for visiting Taroudant, a walled city that has been nicknamed the “Mini Marrakech”. You can climb its fortified towers, shop in the authentic souks and visit the palatial former home of Chilean hyperrealist artist, Claudio Bravo.

Is June a good time to visit Agadir?

With hot but not sweltering temperatures and low humidity, June in Agadir is perfect for a summery beach vacation. You can expect plenty of sunshine and the sea temperatures are really comfortable for swimming and water activities.

The cooling sea breezes help to keep temperatures more bearable than those experienced inland. And, for me, the evening conditions are blissful for strolling along the promenade. 

While June marks the start of the peak summer season, it doesn’t experience the worst of the crowds, which usually arrive in July and August. This means you’ll have more room to move on the sand and the accommodation prices are still reasonable.

Agadir boasts some of the best all-inclusive hotels and resorts in Morocco if you’re seeking a completely hassle-free vacation, with meals, recreational activities and entertainment included. 

In my opinion, June is a fantastic time to visit Agadir to score good weather while still beating the biggest rush of high season.
