Is February a good time to visit Agadir? It may be the depths of winter but February in Agadir is enticingly mild. You can expect warm temperatures and sunny days that are perfect for sightseeing.

Granted, it’s not really warm enough for a classic Moroccan beach vacation where you’re on the sand from dawn til dusk. But there are still plenty of opportunities to revel in the city’s relaxed coastal setting if you’re visiting Agadir in February. 

February is a surprisingly busy time in Agadir, with many European countries having a mid-term school break during the month. In a bid to escape the cold back home, families head to Agadir for some fun in the sun. There’s definitely a buzz in the air.

That being said, you can still expect far fewer crowds compared to the high summer season. And there are several great adults-only resorts if you’re craving a kid-free getaway.

Agadir weather in February

In February, Agadir’s weather is pleasantly mild, offering a welcome respite from the chill of winter in destinations further north. Daytime highs are around 20°C (68°F) – warm enough to get around in single layers.

At the same time, lows can drop down to around 9°C (54°F) at night. Be sure to bring a jumper or jacket and even a beanie!

For the warmest weather, plan your February vacation in Agadir for the end of the month. While you might encounter a few passing showers, there’s still a 77% chance of sunshine during February in Agadir.

The ocean temperature sits at a refreshing 18°C (64°F), which might be a tad cool for a long swim. But a brisk dip can be really refreshing if you’re up for it! Personally, I find that the February weather in Agadir perfectly blends the warmth of summer with a hint of winter’s coolness, making it a fantastic off-season getaway in Morocco.

Is February a busy time in Agadir?

Despite being the middle of winter and one of the coldest months in Agadir, February is surprisingly busy. This is largely due to the mid-term school breaks happening in countries across Europe.

As a result, there’s an influx of tourists chasing the sun and escaping the winter chill back home.

That being said, it’s still not as busy as the summer season (June through August) when people flock to Agadir to enjoy a classic beach vacation. 

Compared to January, visiting Agadir in February has slightly more “buzz” about it. Most of the restaurants that close for a short break in January will reopen due to the increased demand. In all likelihood, you’ll find lots of families staying at the beachfront hotels and all-inclusive resorts.

If kids aren’t your thing, I’d recommend finding an adults-only Agadir resort for a relaxed February vacation.

What’s on in Agadir in February

While Agadir hosted the World Bodyboard Championship Moroccan Pro in 2024, this year is set to be a quiet February. Morocco doesn’t observe any public holidays during the month and the cooler weather makes it less suitable for the lively music festivals that ignite Agadir in the warmer seasons.

That doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of things to do if you’re visiting Agadir in February. In fact, there’s everything from birdwatching excursions to golfing and surfing lessons on offer.

Best things to do in Agadir in February

Visiting Agadir in February is less about long days at the beach and more about exploration within a sun-drenched coastal setting. There are still plenty of opportunities to get in the water. Early morning swims in the brisk Atlantic are my favourite.

Winter is also a great time to hit the surf beaches of Taghazout or learn to surf with one of the local schools. By midday, it may be warm enough to kick back on a sun lounger beside the pool and indulge in some much-needed R&R. 

The mild February temperatures make it ideal for strolling along the seaside promenade and people-watching at the waterfront cafes. It’s also a great time for shopping for artisan goods at Souk El Had.

February is a wonderful time for a day trip to Paradise Valley. The pleasant temperatures make it ideal for hiking between the natural pools.

Golfing is also a favourite winter pastime. Agadir boasts numerous golf courses that are far more enjoyable to walk outside of the scorching summer heat.

Birdwatchers visiting Agadir in winter can rejoice, with migratory species flocking to the coastal wetlands of Souss-Massa National Park. It can easily be visited on a half-day excursion from the city.

Is February a good time to visit Agadir?

February in Agadir may not be the perfect time for a traditional beach holiday spent lounging on the sand all day. But it presents some fantastic options for an off-season vacation and escaping the winter chill back home.

The sun shines brightly on most days, allowing for outdoor activities or relaxing by the pool. That being said, the weather in Agadir in February may or may not be warm enough to swim, depending on your individual preferences.

Beyond the beach, you can discover some of Agadir’s fascinating museums and go shopping in Souk El Had or test your skills on one of the city’s many golf courses. The birdwatching in Souss-Massa National Park is also exceptional at this time of year due to the arrival of migratory species.

In February, the surf breaks of Taghazout are at their most impressive due to the winter swells. Even if you don’t surf, watching the locals in action is inspiring!

Compared to January, February is a slightly busier month in Agadir due to the mid-term school breaks happening across Europe. As a result, you may not find such great low-season deals on hotels and resorts.

But for families craving warmth and a hassle-free escape from the winter chill back home, Agadir offers a relaxed experience. There are HEAPS of all-inclusive hotels to choose from and plenty of activities to keep the kids busy.
