How to Get from Agadir to Marrakech: Bus + Transfer + Tour
After being asked by several travellers about how to get from Agadir to Marrakech or what I think is the best way of getting from Marrakech to Agadir, I thought I’d put together this article. I lived near Agadir for several years and regularly made the journey to Marrakech, using multiple forms of transport.
If you’re travelling between the two cities, you might be wondering is there a bus from Agadir to Marrakech or is there a train between Marrakech and Agadir? And, most importantly: Is it easy to get from Agadir to Marrakech? I’m here to answer all of those questions and more.
Despite being only three hours away from one another (or 250 kilometres), Agadir and Marrakech are worlds apart in their feel and energy. While the “Red City” is abuzz with activity in its lively souks and squares, Agadir feels much more laidback with its coastal culture of sun, surf and sand.
It’s because of these differences that both are worth visiting. This is particularly true if you want to shop til you drop in the souks of Marrakech AND bliss out on Morocco’s Atlantic beaches.
In this article, I’ll outline everything you need to know to get from Agadir to Marrakech. Aside from exploring the bus and train options (spoiler, there aren’t any trains between Agadir and Marrakech), I’ll explain how to travel between Marrakech and Agadir by grand taxi, private transfer and on a full-day guided tour.

What to expect on the Agadir to Marrakech bus
To ensure a smooth and stress-free journey, I suggest arriving at least 15 minutes before your bus is scheduled to leave. This will allow you to handle any luggage you have, which means checking it in at the luggage counter, just like you would at an airport.
Once you pay the small fee (ranging from 5 to 10 dirhams), you’ll get a tag or sticker. Attach this to you bag and a staff member will help you load it onto the bus.
When it’s time to board the bus, you’ll find your seat number clearly marked above each seat. Be sure to sit in your assigned seat to avoid any chaos as others board.
Once you’re comfortably seated, all that’s left to do is relax and enjoy the views unfolding outside your window.

No, there are currently no trains from Marrakech to Agadir. However, there are plans to extend Morocco’s high-speed railway line all the way to Agadir in the future.
Eventually, you will be able to travel between the two cities by train. But when that will be, I don’t know.

How to get from Agadir to Marrakech by private transfer
If you’re travelling in a group or just want the fastest way of getting from Agadir to Marrakech, then a private transfer is your answer. You can easily arrange private transfer pickups in advance and they will come directly to your Agadir hotel. This saves you the trouble (and expense) of getting to the bus station ahead of time.
When you reach Marrakech, they will take you straight to your riad or hotel (or as close as possible to the pedestrian-only medina). Again, this saves you the cost of a taxi from the bus station to your accommodation.
For those with lots of luggage or families with small kids, a private transfer is a great option. It means you won’t have to drag your bags through busy bus stations or deal with public transport while managing little ones.
Plus, you can choose your departure time. This gives you the flexibility to travel early in the morning or late at night if that suits you better.
Private transfers from Agadir to Marrakech cost anywhere from around 150 USD for up to four people. So they aren’t exorbitantly expensive.
This private transfer from Agadir to Marrakech comes with excellent reviews:
“Chakib was extremely knowledgeable and patient. The driving experience was awesome. He also has an amazing playlist.” – Amanda (read more reviews here)
Yes, a private transfer from Agadir to Marrakech might be more expensive than taking a bus. But the added convenience, flexibility and personalised service make it a great option for anyone looking for a hassle-free journey and willing to invest a little extra for that comfort.

How to get from Agadir to Marrakech by grand taxi
For those looking to travel from Agadir to Marrakech on a budget while still enjoying some of the perks of a private transfer, a grand taxi can be a good compromise. A grand taxi is a shared vehicle that can fit up to six passengers.
So while you won’t have the entire taxi to yourself, it’s a much lower fare compared to a private transfer.
If you prefer, you can book the entire taxi for yourself. This may end up being cheaper than a private transfer (you’ll probably have to haggle for the price). That being said, you’ll need to go to the grand taxi station on Rue de Fes, as they don’t come to pick you up!
When booking a seat in a grand taxi from Agadir to Marrakech, prices typically start around 100 dirhams, which is similar to bus fares. Official prices are usually posted at the station but don’t hesitate to ask if you can’t find them.
Top tip:
Be aware that grand taxi drivers might charge extra if you have a lot of luggage that takes up more space – you pay extra for luggage on the bus too!
Travelling by grand taxi is generally quicker than by bus, with frequent departures throughout the day. However, the downside is that it can get quite cramped. There are usually four passengers in the back and two in the front, plus the driver.
Grand taxis only depart once all seats are filled. So if it’s a slow day, you might find yourself waiting for a while.
Female travellers might feel a bit uneasy in a grand taxi, especially if it’s just men in the vehicle. If so, you can ask to sit next to another woman for added comfort.
Personally, I prefer to use grand taxis for shorter trips or when buses aren’t an option. For longer journeys, like the one from Agadir to Marrakech, I enjoy the extra space that bus travel offers.
